Our Snowshoing Adventure

This morning Trent and I went up to Brighton to do a little hiking on the mountain. We knew it was going to be a beautiful day and we wanted to be outside so that we could enjoy the sun that we have missed for a very long seven months. We packed light: we wore our swimsuits (and snow shoes) and brought a camelback filled with cold water, cell phones, car keys, and plastic bags for sledding. This is us with all our gear: (note- we didn't bring a camera, the pictures were taken with the cellphone)We started our trek around noon and it took us about an hour and 15 minutes to reach the summit, we walked around the top a little then we sledded down a steep powdery slope.
Trent was expecting a call from a Dentist so when his phone rang we stopped for him to answer the phone. We sledded down a few more slopes and ran/jumped down the rest of the mountain. Here is me sledding down a wimpy slope:

(if the video didn't work, try this)

We finally reached the bottom of the mountain around 3:00 but weren't ready to leave so we laid out in the sun for half an hour. As we headed back to our car we realized we didn't have our keys. They were supposed to be in the backpack with our plastic bags and cell phones, but we knew we had taken out the plastic bags multiple times and the cell phone once on our way down the mountain. Our keys could have been anywhere! Trent took off up the mountain and I followed but shortly after felt my efforts were more efficiently spent praying and coming up with alternate plans in case Trent couldn't find the keys. Trent followed our tracks 3/4 of the way back up the mountain stopping in each spot where we took things out of the bag before he found the keys! He found them where he took everything out of his bag to answer the important phone call. This is Trent running down the mountain with the keys- we were so excited! It ended up being a very fun and entertaining adventure. We got lots of sun and burned lots of calories. We went to dinner with Trent's dad afterward at his favorite spot- Sweet Tomatoes. So much for burning all those calories.

Our Summer So Far

I am so excited to have all this time on hands. To bad it will all come to an end next Tuesday.

Today I got my hair redone, and as shown in previous pictures, it was definitely past due. I really wanted to go darker, but Trent is a lover of the blond hair, so....I got my hair "sliced." I don't know why I hadn't heard of it until today, I guess maybe it is a new technique. Its a way to get highlights with out having to have your hair weaved. My hair was getting really blond and I was sick of it getting lighter and lighter on the ends so with this technique I could have some slices of my hair bleached and then the rest filled in with brown semi-permanent dye. It is supposed to be less mantineance and look more natural when it begins to grow out. So far I like the way it turned out.

Trent entered a summer league basketball tournament with a few of his mission friends and their first game was tonight. It was so fun, I got into it in the beginning and then started chatting with Marrissa, one of the player's wifes, and missed Trent's fake-out-around-the-basket-in-mid-air-dunk. Next time I will have to bring the camera. Trent's team won by some disgusting amount like 80-40. Now Trent is over at the church playing with the ward team. He is a basketball playing fool. I think he is especially liking the break from school.

We also have started catching up on laundry after at least three weeks of neglection. I have a feeling this is going to be a long task for Trent to finish tomorrow while I am at work. But he is excited to do it. He says I am going to be so stunned when I come home because everything will be in immaculate condition. I think he sees it as a challenge, and what a challenge it will be. Perhaps this portrays what it will be like for him...

Four Gallons of Ice Cream Later...

... Finals are over!! Yea! I suppose I could take that optional final to boost my grade in MBA 602, but at this point I think I will just deal with the B! So, now I can officially move on to our Spring and Summer plans.

Trent will be taking the DAT on June 20th and submitting his application for dental school asap. He will be living, breathing, and thinking about all those fun science topics and spending lots of time on the adea website until then. He is taking a break this weekend but will hit the books starting next week. Trent will then take some credits summer term (not sure exactly which classes hes taking) and TA for Organic Chemistry as well.

My plans are to take Econometrics and Advanced Taxation spring term in addition to my two jobs being a TA for Accounting 210 and my current job in the Engineering Advisement Center. I will TA again during the summer for the same class, as well as teach it at the BYU Salt Lake Center. Right now it looks like I only have five students enrolled, but on my class roll I have seven listed. Hopefully between now and June 22 some more students will add so that I will actually have a class to teach.

Our other plans/goals include:
  • A snow shoeing adventure this weekend
  • A trip snowboarding before all the resorts close
  • Lots of laying out at seven peaks (while I read the rest of the twilight books). We have to take advantage of our year round passes
  • Lounging on our hammock in the back yard
  • Using the fire pit that we got for our wedding and have still never used (remember Sally and Amanda?? ha)
  • Waking up early EVERY morning to run on the BYU track
  • Fourth of July at Bear Lake with Trent's side of the family. I will bring my wet suit so that I can go wake boarding/skiing (yes, I am too much of a wimp for that artic water).
  • A bunch of weddings
  • A trip to Florida to register the car (its all about getting Florida Residency and avoiding the stupid emissions and safety testing in Utah) and see my Chinese parents and siblings, nieces, and nephew(s) AND go to the beach
  • While we are at it we will visit Meme and Lee in Georgia
  • And lastly, we will hopefully go on a trip to Hawaii with Amanda and Ryker and anyone else who wants to join us
Hopefully our tentative plans work out, I am excited and exhausted just thinking about it all!

Finals Week

Tomorrow morning marks the beginning of finals week for Trent and I. Trent is kicking of the day with his Sports Nutrition final and I get to take my Statistics for Economists final. Studying so far has been tons of fun. I especially enjoyed making my note cards for my final that is tomorrow.
here is the material from the first half of the semester:and the new material for the finalI think what makes finals week so special is the frequent servings of Snelgrove ice cream. I heard Snelgrove got bought out by Dryers which explains why we got a bunch for 1.99/gallon. Nothing beats eating some high quality ice cream that was inexpensive during finals week.

Jamba Juice

Yum! I had a coupon to try one of Jamba's new breakfast smoothies for free and it expired today, so I made a point to go out of my way to get one. This included me going out into the snow (yes it is still snowing in Utah) but, let me tell you, it was well worth it. I tried the Chunky Strawberry and if you like peanut butter like me (and my sister) then this smoothie is basically heaven on earth. I will now undertake the task of figuring out how to make this smoothie at home. Once the recipe is concocted I will post it for your enjoyment, since many of you might not have a Jamba close by.

Recipe Correction

I had Ali retrain me on how to bake her amazing chocolate cookies today and we found the error in my recipe. I copied down 1/2 cups of flour when really it is 1 and 1/2 cups. I apologize to anyone who may have tried this incorrect cookie recipe that I posted earlier. You must try the new corrected recipe, I was reminded as to how good they are after having them again this evening.

Dannon Light and Fit 0% Plus

How could I make three new posts without a single mention of food? No worries, I am always thinking about food, and lately this is what has been occupying my mind. I have tried many yogurts in my day, but nothing has come close to the perfection of the new Light and Fit 0% Plus. You gotta check it out. You can even save "fit"y cents on your purchase by clicking here. (You will have to download some coupon printer so it might not be worth your time-- plus, this new light and fit is worth every penny.) I have tried other light and fit yogurts by Dannon and they weren't really anything special for me. For instance the Original light and fitThe light and fit smoothieI haven't tried the fiber ones, but its probably best that I steer clear from them
Heaven knows I would get addicted and have issues with it down the road. But heres the new ones, they really are something else. May I suggest the Vanilla flavor.

Trip with my Sista and Kalil

Last weekend we went to Vegas. We were there for just about enough time to do my cousins hair

Witness my Aunt's wedding
and of course play with little miss K
the trip part was mostly spent in the car listening to Twilight.
But it was so much Fun! Thanks Amanda for flying here so that we could make the drive together! Of course right when we got back to Provo Amanda had to turn back around and fly home. But not before we could check out the Gateway museum gift store.
Check out Kalil's sweet monster feet! Just keep your eyes on her claws and not on my hair- I know, I know, I need to redo my highlights. Still trying to figure out what to do about that...

I love Google Reader

Did I ever mention how much I absolutely adore Google Reader?? Of course not, because I never post anything on this blog of mine. Anyway, I am sure everyone already knows about the whole Reader thing, but just in case I wasn't the absolute last person to find out about it and you are wondering what I am talking about- then go to this website and check it out. Guaranteed to save you time while still being up-to-date on everyones blog.
Oh yeah, thanks Sabrina for introducing me!

Hawaii Island Quiz

I just finished taking a quiz that unfortunately does not fulfill a class requirement. With finals less than two weeks away one might wonder why I am taking non required quizzes. This can only be explained by my complete apathy towards anything related to school right now. The quiz enticed me with its title: "Which is the perfect island for you?" So here is what I found out:

Kaua'i

"With some of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches in Hawaii, Kaua'i is a great place to spend relaxed days at the beach, whether sunning or surfing. Make time, however, for some trips inland because with a rainforest full of waterfalls, canyons, trails and rainbows, there's lots of territory to explore. Called the "Garden Island," nature-lovers will love Kauai as much as nature does, which is why it's a great place to chill out with locals and head to a traditional luau, or spend a quiet evening with a book at your charming little bed and breakfast."

Wow does that not sound perfect or what? If not, its because this is MY quiz results, feel free to find out which island is perfect for you using this link. This description does sound like quite the perfect vacation for me. Now I just need to figure out how to get there...
